One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a little black dress.

Imagine

You don’t have plans for the weekend, it’s 6pm on a Saturday night, and out of nowhere you get a text that your new group of friends (with someone you want to impress!) planned a spontaneous rendezvous in NYC in 2 hours.

Now you want to go, but you have to get ready in less than an hour to make it on time.

So what do you do?!

You pull your staple, little black dress of course!

…But will it stand out if everyone had the same thought?

Many of us have been in this scenario and although I love me a little black dress, sometimes the plain dress doesn’t do the job. In order to stand out in a sea of people who had the same idea, we need to find ways to spruce up our staple items. For your little black dress, here’s what I recommend.

1. Texture

Sometimes the fit of an outfit is great as it is, but you can do wonders to sprucing up a look by finding the same style but with some texture like black-on-black sequins, beading, and/or embroidery.

The dress and all accessories are designed with black sequins to enhance the look while keeping the all-black vibe.

2. Style

Seems simple enough, but the key is to find dresses that are cut, layered, or pulled together differently than your average slinky black dress. It remains the staple item, but with a flair.

Fitted black dress with a Chinese collar design that accentuates my shoulders and brings attention to my neck with the A-line cut.

3. Accessories

Whether you maintain the black-on-black theme for your jewelry, shoes, and purse or you decide to add a pop of color to the look, adding flair in other parts of your look can help highlight your dress or overall look!
